Happy Spring!
Oh, what a year it has been! I know, as well as you all, we are ready for life to get back to normal. I have to admit though, through the bad that Corona has brought, it has also brought us some good. This last year we have seen more new faces than ever before. More people being conscious of what they are putting in their bodies and the quality of food they are buying. For that we are all grateful. So, I want to say thank you to everyone that came out and supported us through all the craziness that has gone on in the world.
The downside of our reality in the farming world, last years drought hit us hard, as it did many farms around us. We were hauling in water for months as our wells could not keep up, and our pastures dried up months earlier than usual. The impact of that, is we could not make enough hay to feed our livestock and had to buy in hay from outside sources which prices almost doubled from what we are used to paying. This is the circle of life, and the cost of relying on Mother Nature to cooperate with us. We are all hoping the snow is done and the fields start growing! We’ve heard rumor of another drought possibly being predicted again for this year. We’re praying this is not true. I’ll let you know more come fall time!
On a positive note, we are making progress on our new pig barn! It’s coming along slower than we hoped but it’s still getting done, and that’s what matters. We do already have some pigs in it and so far, we haven’t heard any complaints from the new residents.
Onward to this year! Currently our beef orders of 1/2s and 1/4s are all spoken for, for 2021. We will still be selling plenty of retail cuts of beef in our farm store and always have ground beef on hand. Our spring orders for pork are all full as well but we are still taking orders for the fall if you have any interest. As for chicken we will be doing our usual preorders for July, August and October, but new this year we are doing an early batch for the beginning of June so we will have chicken available in our store for then. Don’t forget about the Turkeys! We will be doing turkeys again for Thanksgiving. Understandably some people had to back out of their orders last year when our turkeys turned into giants and were too big for most people’s small gatherings. For some reason every few years or so we get a batch that just grows past expectations. Wrong year to have it happen, but we are very grateful to those that came and ended up selling us out of turkeys yet again. If you have any interest in preordering meats this year, all I can say is, it’s never too early to get your orders in.
On a more current note, we are taking preorders for farm shirts! We are offering sweatshirts for $40 each in two colors, red and forest green, and we have t-shirts for $18 each in heather grey, heather blue and scarlet red. If you wish to put in an order please let us know ASAP. If you’d like to see a sample, we have pictures posted on our facebook and Instagram page or I can email you the pictures.
As always if you have any questions feel free to contact us, via email, diamondbfarm14@gmail.com or give us a call, Meghan 603-762-0190 or Jenn 508-963-3123. Don’t let Jenn’s Mass number deter you, yes, she’s a transplant, but we still love her non the less!
If you’re just curious about trying our meats you can always stop in our farm store at 62 Main St, New Durham, NH. Our hours are Fri, Sat and Sun 12pm-5pm. Our inventory will start to be filling up again at the end of April. Hope to see you all there!
Thank you all so much!

Happy Spring!
Well better late than never, I’m finally getting my annual spring letter out to you all. It’s been a crazy busy winter; as many of you know, I work part time for the Highway Department in town. I spent many sleepless nights out plowing and treating roads, but hey, the overtime wasn’t too bad. A wet, snowy winter seems to be turning into a very wet spring as well. I may have gotten the tractor stuck a time or two already. As the saying goes, April showers bring May flowers!
Last year we missed the mark on getting our pig barn put up before the snow started to fly. We are still only at the footing stage, but we are hoping soon to get that project in full swing! Oh, how much easier life will be with having a barn solely dedicated to just the pigs. It will free up space in the main barn as well, maybe more room for more cows perhaps. One can only hope anyways.
We did however get 5 acres of woodlot cleared for a new pasture! That project is starting to take shape now. We just spread many tons of manure on the field and who knows, by fall we might actually have something growing out there. All good things to come!
A BIG step for us, over the winter, we opened our official farm store. It had been a dream of mine for many, many years to turn my grandfathers old milking parlor into our store front. With a lot of elbow grease, some paint and a little rewiring we have a store. I could not be happier with how it came out. It was a group effort and so far, the reviews have all been very positive. If you haven’t already come check it out! We are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12pm-5pm. Starting Memorial Day weekend, we will be extending our hours to Thurs-Sun 12pm-6pm.
For this year all of our prices and preorders will remain the same as in previous years. We are taking orders for roaster chickens($4.50/lb), which will be ready for July, August and October. We will be doing turkeys again for Thanksgiving (never too early to get your orders in) and we currently have 2 whole pigs or 4 half pigs available for bulk order in the fall. Currently all of our beef orders are already filled for the year, but we do have retail cuts available in our store. We also have retail cuts of pork, whole roasters and chicken quarters available in our store too.
Hope you all stay dry with the rain showers predicted to come in later this week, so enjoy the sun while its out!

ANNUAL SPRING LETTER! ~April 16, 2018~
Hello to All!
Well it’s that time of year again, time for our annual spring letter. As I am writing this I’m not entirely sure that it is spring yet. The last two days have been days dealing with ice, snow and now at this moment, rain. I am already missing the beautiful days we had last week of 50 degrees, sunshine and grass starting to grow. I do believe Mother Nature has been a bit confused as of late. But baby season is in full swing which tells me it is most definitely spring. 3 litters of piglets so far, and our first calf of the season was born just yesterday. So it would seem we are moving in the right direction as far as the seasons go.
For all of our local customers and those that come direct to the farm to buy your meats, you will be seeing a fairly substantial change on the farm this year. We spent last year finishing putting up permanent fencing around the entire farm; this year will be consisting of two major projects. The first and most anticipated project, is our new pig barn! We had plans of moving an existing structure and using that as our pig barn but that unfortunately has not been able to come to fruition. So, plan B is to build one! Nothing huge but big enough that all of our breeding pigs have their own space and are no longer intertwined with the cattle. To say I am looking forward to it being built is an understatement.
Our second major project for this year is already underway. As many people in town know we had a section of our woodlot cleared along Main St. To put anyone’s mind at ease, this lot is not going to be sold for a housing development, or sold in any way. We had it clear cut for more pasture! As the farm grows and that cattle herd continues to grow we are in need of more pasture for the summer months, and that is exactly what it will be, more pasture. It will take the majority of the summer to clean up the lot, till it and seed it. It will most likely be next year before any new growth is seen out of it, but all in good time.
Now for our product updates! I am happy to announce all of our pricing will be remaining the same, and will be offering beef, pork, chicken and turkey again this year. For all of our newer customers, we sell beef as retail cuts here at the farm or as ½ or ¼ portions. To order a ½ or ¼ we charge $5.00/lb(hanging weight), but unfortunately we will not have many orders available this year. We had more heifers than steers and will not have as many steers to process this year. Currently however our freezer is fully stocked with all retail cuts of beef that we offer.
As for our pork, will be selling ½ and whole pigs in May, August and October this year. Our May batch has only one whole pig(or two ½ pigs) available, August there will also be one whole pig available and October is yet to be determined. Pricing is $5.00/lb (hanging weight) and that does not include any smoking fees as that varies quite a bit from customer to customer. We also have all retail cuts of pork available here at the farm. Come get your bacon!
We will be doing three batches of chickens again this year, ready for July, August and October. Whole Roasters are available for pre-order at $4.50/lb, please specify when ordering how many you would like and which month you would like them in. For those of you that did not know we are also offering chicken cuts for sale, Split Breast, Whole Thighs and Wings. These are available at the farm during store hours and we will be stocked back up on those in July.
Come November we will have fresh Turkeys ready for Thanksgiving at $4.50/lb. Its never too early to get your orders in!
Something new we are considering this year is roaster ducks. This will be on a pre-order basis only and will depend on if we can get enough orders to make it worth our while to do. The ducks will also be $4.50/lb, weights, we are guessing, should be in the 5-7lb range. If this is something you are interested in please let us know. We would need to know how many you would like and what general time of year would you like to be getting them. We are looking to do roughly 50 ducks, and we have had many people interested, so we hope we can make this work.
As always if you have any questions for us please feel free to contact either myself(Meghan) or Jenn. We can be reached through email: diamondbfarm14@gmail.com, our facebook page, website: bickfordsdiamondbfam.com, or our cell phones, Meghan: 603-762-0190, Jenn: 508-963-3123

Annual Spring Letter
Hello All!
Well I think its spring, looking out the window, it looks more like winter. Mother Nature has had an unusual sense of humor this spring; sunny and 50 one day, then 10inches of snow the next. I’m starting to think Mother Nature is a little Bipolar lately.
We are gearing up for baby season to start literally any day now. I have a sow that is now two days past her due date and I have several more that will be having babies in the next couple of weeks! Keep up with our facebook page to see all the cuties throughout the year. I also have several cows that should be having calves in the next month or so. So do a little dance for us and maybe the sun will come out soon and it will stay on the warmer side for a while.
As far as our products go we’re not expecting many changes for this year. We will still be offering retail cuts of beef and pork and fresh eggs directly here at the farm. We will be doing two batches of pork if you are looking to order a whole or half pig. I have only a few left available for May so if you have not already placed your order please due so soon. Beef and pork orders will remain the same at $5.00/lb(hanging weight) with any smoking being an extra cost.
I plan on doing several batches of chickens again with the first batch being ready around the Fourth of July, so please get your order in for this year soon so I can plan out the batches. Also don’t forget your Thanksgiving Turkey. Yes, I know it’s a ways off but it’s never too early to get your orders in. Turkey and chicken will be staying at the same price at $4.50/lb.
Over the next year we will be finishing our fencing project that has been dragging out for several years. We will finally have the entire farm fenced in with permanent fencing. So hopefully no more cows heading down Main St or Rt. 11. Give a honk if you’re driving by and see us out working!
We are working our way to having an actually store front. It’s a slow process with so many projects going on here, and I thank everyone who has been stopping in during our open hours and bearing with us while we are still selling out of the freezers in the garage. We are currently still having open hours on Friday and Saturdays from 12-5pm. We will be extending those hours during the summer and will announce those hours when we will be switching over to them.
As always if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me through email, diamondbfarm14@gmail.com or on my cell at 603-762-0190. I will be happy to talk with you and answer any questions you may have. You can also keep up with the happenings at the farm via our facebook page, or our website, bickfordsdiamondbfarm.com
Thank you all for your continued time and business!
Sincerely,
Meghan Bickford
Farm Manager
